India House heritage started in Lahore (now in Pakistan) by Shri Gopal Dass Agarwal in Main Bazaar,Anarkali in 1910 under the name of Standard Furniture Mart.Standard Furniture Mart was very beloved for its workmanship quality and rentals among the Indian’s oldest film industry pioneers like Pritvi Raj kapoor, Shorab Modi, Dev Anand (Pishorimal)Guru Dutt and many more.

In 1947, the separation of India and Pakistan Shri Gopal Dass Agarwal and family were forced to move out of Lahore. In 1949 in Kanpur a new business was created by Shri Gopal Dass Agarwal with his son Prem Nath Agarawal under the name of “Lahore Furniture House” on Mall Road, Kanpur. A name “Lahorewala” was very successfully branded in the city.

Krishan Kumar and Raman Kumar sons of Prem Nath and Janak Dulari added a home furnishings, fabrics and fashion business to the family business under the name of “Youngman” in 1972.

In 1982 Mr. Krishan Kumar Gupta left India for Germany in search of business developments .In West Berlin, Germany. “Tandoory” & “Ganges” Restaurants made Mr. Krishan Kumar Gupta a very successful businessman in the Metropolitan city of Berlin. Living between Berlin, Munich, Copenhagen, Paris and London added great business experience.

In 1992 Mr. Gupta begin living between Berlin and New York. So began the American dream of Mr. Krishan Gupta. A small business was set up in Santa Barbara, California under the name of “India House”. Combination of American Wife “Yana Gupta “ and Indian businessman “Krishan Gupta” now enjoys the blessings of Lord Vishnu Bhagwan. “India House” has warehouses in Carpinteria, retail storefronts in Santa Barbara on prime downtown locations. Our family business practices of commitment to quality and workmanship is our obsession and a third generation rich heritage!
